imajix1. What AI mode does
AI mode looks at a photo and suggests where it was taken. It relies only on what is visible in the picture, such as signs, landmarks and streets. It is optional: you can always drop a pin yourself, for free. These terms apply on top of the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.
2. What is sent and when
AI mode starts only after you accept these terms and tap the analysis button. For each photo you select:
- the app makes a copy reduced to at most 1280 pixels on the long side and re-encoded as JPEG, which removes the capture date, camera model and GPS data;
- the copy is uploaded to the imajix service and analysed by a Claude model from Anthropic;
- when a landmark is named, its name and a search area (not the photo) are sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim to place the point more precisely.
Your originals stay on your iPhone and are not changed. The uploaded copy is erased as soon as its analysis finishes, and anything left over is deleted within about an hour. If you cancel, the copies are deleted right away. You can turn AI mode off at any time.
3. Accuracy and your confirmation
Results are estimates. For each photo the service reports whether it is confident in a place or could not determine one, and, when there is no place, why (for example a screenshot, a very dark picture, or no known landmarks). Nothing is written to your photo library until you review the result and confirm it. Check each location before you save it; you are responsible for what you save, and you can undo a change afterwards.
4. Credits in AI mode
- One credit pays for the analysis of one photo.
- A credit is used when the analysis of a photo starts, even if no place is found, because the analysis has been carried out.
- If the analysis fails because of a problem on our side, the credit for that photo is returned automatically.
- If you cancel before a photo has been sent for analysis, no credit is used.
- If you do not have enough credits, the photos that cannot be paid for are not analysed and nothing is charged for them.
- A photo sent again is a new analysis and uses a new credit.

5. Your content
Your photos remain yours. You give us permission only to process the copies you choose to send, in order to produce the result you asked for. We do not use your photos to train models and we do not keep them after the analysis. Only send photos you are entitled to use, and keep in mind that a photo can show other people or private places.
6. Limits
To keep the service available to everyone, one analysis covers at most 20 photos, each copy must be at most 2 MB, and requests are rate-limited. We may change these limits and may suspend AI mode for an account that abuses the service.
