How it works
Three steps, and every photo knows where it was taken
- Step 1
Pick photos without a location
Select shots that have no location: from a camera without GPS, a messenger or an old archive.
- Step 2
Drop a pin or run AI
Place the pin yourself, for free. Or send photos for recognition: AI looks for signs, landmarks and streets.
- Step 3
Review and save to Photos
You see the location before anything is written. Nothing changes in Photos until you confirm.

Privacy
What goes to the cloud, and what doesn’t
Photos are uploaded only in AI mode, and only when you start it. Manual tagging runs entirely on your iPhone. Details are in the AI Mode Terms.
Originals stay on your device
Only downscaled copies of the photos you select are uploaded.
Copies are stripped and deleted
EXIF and other metadata are removed before upload; copies are deleted after analysis.
You confirm every change
imajix doesn’t touch your library until you tap Save.
No analytics, no trackers
Not in the app, not on this site. That’s why there’s no cookie banner.

Questions
Do I need an account?
Not for manual tagging. AI mode needs Sign in with Apple — that’s what your credits are tied to.
What happens to my photos in AI mode?
The app makes downscaled copies without metadata and uploads them. Copies are deleted after analysis. Originals stay on your iPhone. See the AI Mode Terms and the Privacy Policy.
Why wasn’t a place found?
AI only sees what’s in the frame. Screenshots, dark shots, forests, beaches or interiors without recognisable details often can’t be placed — imajix shows you the reason.
How accurate is the AI?
It depends on the photo. That’s why imajix shows the result on a map first and saves it only after you confirm.
Is a credit used if no place is found?
Yes. A credit pays for the analysis, so it is used even when no place is found. If the analysis fails on our side, the credit is returned automatically. See the AI Mode Terms.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. imajix has an “Undo Change” button, and you can always adjust a location in the Photos app itself.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Account → Delete Account. More details on the Support page.
